The Legacy of Charles Gurulé
THE BIG CHILI is a company started in 1991 by
New Mexico native Charles Gurulé. After a successful
career as a broadcast journalist, Charles embraced a
culinary adventure -- exploring the native foods of the
southwest. He developed relationships with growers in
New Mexico, Mexico, and Colorado, and created THE BIG CHILE,
which packages dried bulk produce and mixes for sauces, stews,
salsa and more, featuring chili peppers and spices
Charles died in 2002 with his sense of adventure intact.
In his honor, THE BIG CHILI has been reinvented as a company
with a mission to bring great Southwestern and world foods
to people across the country and around the world.
